Low noise linear Hall effect sensor chip with analog output funcion JHM3901

JHM3901 is a fully integrated Hall-effect current sensor composed of an GaAs Hall element and a signal processing IC chip in an XXX package. The sensor IC is sensitive to magnetic flux density orthogonal to the IC package surface and the output is an analog voltage proportional to the applied flux density.

In configuration mode the output pin is also used as single-wire serial data interface for calibration with only 3 wires to the outside. The gain and offset drift over temperature can be compensated by writing device specific coefficients to the on-chip non-volatile memory in factory. The absolute vale of gain and offset can be left for customer programming after manufacturing. The sensor has an operating bandwidth from DC to 200kHz and a fast 2μs response tie. It is ideal for use in high-frequency automotive inverters and DC/DC converters where fast switching is required.

JHM3901 also offers over-voltage protection, power-on reset for automotive application.

  • Under static state(zero magnetic field:B=0 G),the ratio of output VOUT(Q)to power supply voltage VCC is constant within the working range of the whole VCC and ambient temperature.

  • The magnetic sensitivity is constant for any two external magnetic fields with the same size and opposite polarity.

  • The error is the difference between the measured change relative to the supply voltage and the measured change for each characteristic.

  • It has the proportional output function, that is,the stastic voltage output VOUT(Q),magnetic sensitivity Sens and output voltage clamp VCLP(high) and VCLP(low) are proportional to the power supply voltage VCC,which means that when the power supply voltage increases or decreases by a certain percentage, the output characteristics will also increae or decrease by the same percentage.

  • When powered on, JHM3901 is kept in reset state in order to initialize to a known state and avoid curent peak. When the VCC reaches VUVLOH and the time tPORR has expired, the reset signal is disabled, allowing the output voltage to enter the normal operating state from the high impedance state.During power failure, when VCC reaches VPORL,reset signal is enabled, causing output voltage to enter high impedance state.

  • Under voltage lockout threshold (VUVLOL) is set.If VCC dros below VUVLOL,the output voltage will be locked to GND.If the VCC starts to rise, when the VCC reaches VUVLOH,it will disengage from the locked state.

  • If the GND pin is dsconnected, the VOUT pin will enter a high impedance state. If the load resistor RL(PULLUP) is connected to VCC,the output voltage will become VBRK(HIGH);If the load resistor RL (PULLDWN) is connected to GND, the output voltage will become VBRK (LOW), and the device will not respond to any external magnetic field.
